What happens after you leave Ashridge?
A simple answer to the question is that the routes out are either through another workshop to gain a little commercial practice or to set up on your own and begin the business of finding someone who needs something made. Many of us begin by making (for very reasonable rates of pay) things for friends and family. This then spreads outwards and the rate of pay steadily climbs. Those who go on to work for another workshop – our standards are well recognised – might well earn more in their first year than someone setting up on their own. This approach allows you to build confidence and experience as well as a better knowledge of the market before inevitably joining the select but ever increasing band of people who work for themselves. The decision as to which route is best is very much a personal one. There are advantages to both and you will know which suits you best.Click on the link below for more detailed information about what some ex-students are up to, including links to their websites.
